This campaign is now complete.
I'd like to extend a "Great Big Thank You" to everyone who has joined Greensburg Neighbors and participated by adding relevant local information. Through your memberships and participation in the site, GreensburgNeighbors was able to raise $719.00 for the capital campaign of the Bread of Life.
Although this campaign is now complete, it doesn't mean the work of raising money for the Bread of Life is complete. Their need will continue to exist as long as hungry bellies exist. Bookmark this page as you can still send your pledge information by using this link...
Donation Pledge.
What's this all about?
Beginning May 1st and ending June 1st,
GreensburgNeighbors.Com will begin tracking all new memberships and posts to the site. For each new member that registers, GN will donate $1. For each new post; including classified, calendar event, forum post, news article, or comment, GN will donate $2.
Why's GreensburgNeighbors doing this?
We believe the mission of the
Greensburg Community Bread of Life is one of the most basic and crucial needs of any area of the world. There will always be a need for a hot free meal, no matter where you go. We in Decatur County, are very fortunate to have such a generous and well organized effort.
Understanding that, GreensburgNeighbors would not be a very good "community" website if we didn't support and help promote their efforts in big ways. So we created this effort, in an attempt to get the word out about
GreensburgNeighbors.Com and to raise money for the
Greensburg Community Bread of Life.

What's the goal?
Nothing has ever been done like this before, so we really have no idea what kind of a goal to put to it. If we want to be realistic, $3000 is huge. But we're not setting a maximum limit, so if people register and post like crazy...then GreensburgNeighbors will have to pony up. :) So post away!!!
What is the Bread of Life?
Their mission statement says it best...they "exist to provide a free meal to those in need with God's caring love." In the 8 years since opening at their current facility, the Greensburg Community Bread of Life, or "BOL" for short, has served over 88,000 meals and received/rescued over 288,000 pounds of food. And these numbers have been accomplished while only being open Mondays and Wednesdays. Residents of Decatur County have relied on the BOL, at times, to stretch their budgets, provide meals for their children, but most important to provide them hope.

Now, the Bread of Life has started a capital campaign called "
Building Hope for Those in Need." In January, after much prayer and searching, the BOL finally found a facility at
700 E. Randall Street that will begin serving patrons in a more efficient manner than the previous facility behind Sherwin Williams. Although the new facility was what they were looking for, it also needs to meet building codes in order to continue with the efforts of providing meals and hope. If you'd like to know more about the BOL capital campaign, you can call the Kitchen at 663-1055.
